Impact of the Scholarship & Professional Pursuits

"During my Ph.D. work, I relied heavily on diffraction experiments to characterize the materials I synthesized. Receiving the Frevel Scholarship early in my graduate career was extremely beneficial because it allowed me the opportunity to dedicate more of my time to learn about crystallography and how it could impact my research. I became proficient in techniques like small angle and wide angle X-ray diffraction and even had the opportunity to conduct experiments at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource facility. I am grateful to the International Centre for Diffraction Data for their support in my graduate studies."

 

PROFESSIONAL PURSUITS:

"I am currently an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at both Santa Monica College and Pierce College. I am very passionate about teaching chemistry and one of my goals as an instructor is to inspire young students to pursue careers in science. I want to work towards increasing diversity in science by reaching out to students from underrepresented groups and help them develop their intellectual talents, which will benefit the scientific community. I firmly believe that answering questions in science, big or small, is important so that we, as scientists and educators, continue our mission of discovery and knowledge."
