Board of Directors Items
The Board of Directors passed the motions from the previous M&A meeting. ICDD Headquarters asked for additional information on both motions, and Jeff Dann supplied it to them.
Set 51 Review (Pete Wallace)
This review of database photocomp output was completed in October 2000 and the results returned to ICDD Headquarters then. Pete Wallace has received a new packet for Set 52 and will review it soon.
Relational Database M&A Product (John Faber)
John Faber demonstrated the M&A RDB product and noted that it contains many features requested by M&A Subcommittee members. He also stated that he would welcome additional input. John said that ICDD marketing personnel have sent out numerous demonstration disks containing the product, and several people have bought the product.
New Calculated M&A Patterns (Sooryanarayana Kabekkodu)
The ICDD and NIST have an agreement allowing the calculation of powder diffraction patterns based on references cited in the NIST M&A database. Soory gave a brief report of where this project is (Attachment B - on file at Headquarters) and indicated that new M&A patterns from this agreement could be expected within a few months.
Review of Duplicate Patterns (Jeff Dann)
Jeff Dann and Pete Wallace have been reviewing lists of M&A duplicate patterns in cooperation with ICDD Headquarters. As a result of this work, Jeff presented the following motion.
M&A Subcommittee Motion 1: The M&A Subcommittee recommends to the Technical Committee that the PCPDFWIN search program have its default search conditions exclude deleted patterns, alternate patterns, and non-ambient patterns.
The motion was seconded by Pete Wallace and passed 6-2-0.
Indexing of "O" Patterns (Bill Mayo)
Bill Mayo was not present at this meeting, but after the meeting, he did provide the summary results which are in Attachment C (on file at Headquarters). The pie chart in this attachment covers 507 patterns and 3 years of work.
Motion from the Pearson Symbol Code Index Review (Pete Wallace)
This review is continuing, and because of the volume of corrections involved, Pete Wallace proposed the following motion.
M&A Subcommittee Motion 2: The M&A Subcommittee recommends to the Technical Committee that additions and corrections made during the current Pearson Symbol Code Index review be entered subject to ICDD review into the Master Database.
The motion was seconded by Jeff Dann and passed unanimously.
