| Press Release 030907/163 - Ludo Frevel Crystallography Scholarship Recipients | ||
The ICDD Ludo Frevel Crystallography Scholarship Committee has selected eight recipients for the 2007 Scholarship Program. These recipients were selected, on a competitive basis, from thirty-seven commendable applications received by the ICDD Scholarship Committee. The recipients are: James Ciston, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA Guillermo Minguez Espallargas, University of Sheffield, Sheffield, UK John J. Morris, University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN, USA Iris Rauda, University of California, Los Angeles, CA, USA Katherine Snoda Ryan, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA Natasha Sciortino, University of Sydney, NSW, Australia Kishore K. Tenneti, Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, USA “Powder and Single-crystal X-ray Diffraction Studies of the Vacancy Ordering in Rare-Earth Intermetallics Derived from the AlB2 and α-ThSi2 Structure Types” The ICDD will present each of these students with a check in the amount of $2,500 to assist in the continuation of studies in their selected fields of crystallographic research. These scholarships are made possible through corporate and private donations. Due to a generous donation in 2005, the ICDD was able to increase the number of scholarships from six to eight in 2006.
