The ICDD is pleased to present the second symposium on Pharmaceutical
Powder X-ray Diffraction, December 9-12, 2002 in Concordville, PA,
U.S.A. PPXRD-2 focused on topics of interest to scientists and engineers in
the pharmaceutical industry using powder x-ray diffraction. The ICDD hopes to
create a forum for these two fields to discuss latest developments, exchange
ideas and gain knowledge from valuable lectures all surrounding the XRD and
pharmaceutical industries.

Optional Sample Measurements
Symposium registrants, upon request, will receive samples from the PPXRD-2 for
measurement in their own laboratory. Results brought to the Symposium will be
part of the focus for discussion throughout the Symposium program. One outcome
of the Symposium may be to provide advanced planning for a future Round Robin.

to measure in your lab. (No additional fee to participate.)

A block of rooms is reserved for Symposium guests for the nights of 8-11
December 2002. The special PPXRD rate of 105.00 $US for a standard room, plus
8% tax includes hot breakfast buffet in the hotel lobby second floor. Check-in
time is 3:00 p.m., and checkout is 12:00 noon. Reservations must be made by 27
October 2002. You will not be guaranteed a room or the special PPXRD rate
after this date. Please mention PPXRD when you make your reservation.
All guest rooms offer the following amenities: hair dryer, in-room minibar,
iron and ironing board, coffee maker, two telephones, data port, voice mail,
and complimentary USA Today delivered to your room. The Best Western Hotel
also invites you to the nightly complimentary Managers' Reception - Monday
-Thursday

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING ABSTRACTS
Abstracts are reproduced as received in the Book of Abstracts and will also be
posted on the ICDD web page. If you do not want your abstract posted on the
web page, please note your request on the information page of your abstract
submission. Abstracts must not exceed one page in length and must include the
title, author(s), affiliation(s), and the text. To provide uniformity, it is
recommended that abstracts be prepared according to the following guidelines:

Abstract Format
- Paper Size: 8.5 x 11 inches; A4 paper must be formatted for 8.5 x 11
inches
- Size: Entire abstract, including title, author(s), affiliation(s), and text,
must fit into a maximum area of 15 cm (5.9") wide by 20 cm (7.9")
high. Please allow a top margin of 3.8 cm (1.5") and 2.54 cm (1")
margins on all other sides
- Font: Times or Times New Roman, 12 point
- Title: bold, centered, all uppercase (except where lowercase letters are
needed for clarity)
- Leave one blank line between the title and the author(s)
- Author(s) and affiliation(s): mixed upper and lowercase, centered; if there
is more than one author, underline the presenting author's name
- Leave two blank lines before beginning text
- Text:
- text should appear flush left; do not indent
- use line spacing sufficiently large enough to allow the abstract to be read
easily, including subscripts, superscripts and Greek letters
- a blank line is recommended (space permitting) between new paragraphs
