HANDS-ON EXERCISE IN QUANTITATIVE PHASE IDENTIFICATION
To participate in the hands-on exercises of this workshop, all attendees must bring their own laptop computer to the workshop (with Windows 95 through XP as the operating system).
We strongly encourage participants to download, install, and try out the sample problems and the data analysis software on your laptop computer prior to the workshop to alleviate any downloading and installation problems that may occur. To perform this download and installation of the software, participants must have administrative privileges on their laptop computer.
Download Instructions
- Click here to Download the Entire Software and Sample Problems (18MB)
- Create a folder on your hard drive called C:\PPXRD6ZIP and Save this zip file to this folder
- Unzip C:\PPXRD6ZIP\ppxrd-workshop-2006.zip file to the C:\ Directory - Be sure to use "Use folder names" (Use the original folder structure in the *.zip file) option.
- You should now find new folders plus files on your hard drive as follows:
C:\PPXRD6WorkShop\AcetSi
C:\PPXRD6WorkShop\AcetSiMannitol
C:\PPXRD6WorkShop\CapillaryData
C:\PPXRD6WorkShop\ExpguiGSASZip
C:\PPXRD6WorkShop\MannitolSi
C:\PPXRD6WorkShop\NewCapillaryData
C:\PPXRD6WorkShop - 18 Files
The download is complete. To complete the installation, run the program by following the below Installation Instructions.
Installation Instructions
- Click Start on your laptop
- Click Run
- Click Browse and select file C:\PPXRD6WorkShop\ExpguiGSASZip\gsas+expgui.exe
- Click Open
- Follow the directions and select all of the default options
Test Sample Data
- Start ExpGui Program
- Run any of the .Exp files or Create a New one. (See EXPGUI and GSAS manuals in the C:\gsas folder.)
