XRF is used throughout the world for elemental analyses. The ICDD databases can be used to compliment XRF analyses. All entries in all databases are expressed by their elemental composition in weight %. This can be searched to match an elemental analysis to a specific compound or a series of compounds, depending on the uniqueness of the formula. The publications describe how XRF analyses are used in several fields of materials analysis.
